      • I graduated from the University of Sherbrooke (Canada) in 1997 with a PhD and in 1992 with MSc in Civil Engineering after completing a MEng degree at Bridges, Pavement and Structural buildings. I then joined University of Paisley as a postdoctoral research assistant and later as a Lecturer. I am now a Senior Lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast. I have been thoroughly enjoying this academic career though, having authored/co-authored more than 170 scientific papers and 17 books/chapters. I am a Fellow RILEM, RILEM Regional Convenor of Middle East and North Africa (International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures), Chair of RILEM TC-266, Member of RILEM Development Advisory Committee (DAC), member of several RILEM committees, Voting member and member of several committees of American Concrete Institute (ACI), and member of ASTM, ISHMII and fib. I awared the Palmer Prize with ICE for the Best Paper in Structures and Building Jouranl (2017).  I also awarded with Bullivant Taranto for the Best KTP Partnership and Excellence Engineering Awards 2013, a Finalist for Parliamentary Awards 2016 in category Innovation Leading to New Markets at Westminster (London).  I was shortlisted for VC’s Impact 2014 at Queen’s University Belfast on “Advanced Technology Category” and awarded a certificate by the Commission of the European Union for Brite-Euram project on Self-Compacting Concrete as one of ten finalist projects considered for the Descartes Prize 2002.  I awarded Canadian FCAR in 1997 and Excellence CIDI scholarship for MSc and PhD, offered by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDI).

        I am a recipient of several research funding from the European Union (EU), EPSRC, Innovate (UK), KTP, the British Council, the Royal Society, and Fonds du Quebec.  I established strong research links with Universities across the world; USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, The Netherland, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland, Iceland, Sweden, Norwegian, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Slovenia, Czech republic, China, Turkey, UAE, Ukraine, Austrilia, New Zealand, Malaysia, South Africa, North Africa.
