2017 Keynote Talk at TEDxRWTHAachen | Be aware of the Chair | The Art of Progress | Ulf Bosch: Invited Keynote Speaker at the Fourth TEDxRWTHAachen Conference (350 participants). TED is a highly influential key note speaker series launched in 1984 on science, education, business, technology and creativity, with subtitles in 100+ languages. TED is a short and powerful conference format covering talks ranging from Technology and Entertainment to Design. TED follows the mission of "ideas worth spreading and has teamed up with RWTH Aachen University, one of Europe's premier educational and research institutions. With TEDx RWTH Aachen, the university promotes deep conversation. The invited keynote with the title "Be aware of the Chair" elaborates on organizational transformation combining theory with narratives from practical real-world settings. The conference attracted 350 participants (physical presence). The speech was embedded in the overall conference theme "The Art of Progress". The contribution is characterized by a methodologically rigorous focus and a basis in empirical research data that is conveyed in an emotionally engaging way through story-telling. For this purpose, the talk ‘Be aware of the Chair’ links endurance sports with organisational development: Transformation of companies are similar to marathon running. It is not purely a matter of discipline. It is about knowing the strategic drivers and operational roadblocks to a sustainable change in behaviour.
