Description
Moving on? Young people’s experiences of justice and transitions from custody. This presentation is based on findings from a qualitative longitudinal study exploring young people’s entry into and transition from the Juvenile Justice Centre in Northern Ireland. Using a life-history approach we explore the routes into custody and the challenges of transition from custody from the perspectives of young people. The study sample is derived from the population of young people detained in the Juvenile Justice Centre in 2013 and 2014. The sample was selected on a purposive basis taking into account the heterogeneity of the population including gender, routes of admission, offences and home area. This study is ongoing and the data presented focuses on the challenges of transitions from custody and young people’s experiences of justice both within formal systems and within their communities.Period | 11 Sept 2014 |
