Description

The "Annual Regional Educational Technologists Get-together" was a dynamic and informal event held as part of the Queen’s University Educational Technologists' Forum Professional Development Series. Organised and led by Laura Farling, Shelby Hanna, and Dr Matt Birch, the session brought together educational technologists from across the region to foster networking and build collaborative relationships in a relaxed setting.

Invited speakers Fiona McCloy and Dr Aideen Gibson from Ulster University provided a fascinating insight into their institution’s recent initiatives, including the launch of Blackboard Ultra. Their discussion offered participants a closer look at the adoption process, challenges, and opportunities associated with this new digital learning platform, as well as how it is shaping the future of teaching and learning at Ulster University.

The session was carefully designed to create opportunities for participants to connect with peers from other institutions, exchange ideas, and strengthen the sense of community within the field of educational technology. By offering a space for professionals to interact beyond formal work settings, this get-together encouraged the development of meaningful relationships and the exchange of best practices, ultimately enhancing the collective impact of educational technologists across the region.

This event demonstrated Queen’s University’s commitment to supporting collaboration and professional development among educational technologists, ensuring they remain at the forefront of advancing digital learning environments and improving the student experience.
