DescriptionThe session took place in collaboration with the Lagan Valley Regional Park, as a public outreach event. Alongside members of the public, students had the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities that focus on vocational skills (archaeological surveying, and public outreach ) and experimental methods (flint-knapping, pettery making). The event included a guided walk of the Lagan Valley Regional Park led by the students. A minibus transported students between campus and the event. Students from all disciplines were welcomed, with no assumed level of knowledge of the field.
Students worked with Dr Basell to gain funding from the QUB Development Weeks fund to support the event. They also worked with her to produce a series of pamphlets for members of the public showcasing their survey skills, knowledge of bones, archaeology, artefacts, and designed a guided walk. Materials were also produced for children.
