Description
Artist in residence for the Playhouse Theatre's 'Peace Building Academy' part of a large scale £679k project funded by PEACE IV and administered by the Special European Programmes Body. The project is in partnership with the George Mitchell Institute at QUB, the Thomas D'Arcy Foundation and the Holywell Trust. The Peace Academy is focused on community engaged art practice and will result in 12 artists creating work in response to the legacy of the Troubles for over 2 years. I am currently in production of a virtual reality documentary film written and directed by me entitled 'Frictionless'. The film will feature the testimony from 6 victims and survivors of the Troubles and their stories of trauma along the hard border between around Newry, Armagh and Dundalk. The film will then be used as a creative educational tool for discussion in community groups utilising the power of virtual reality to immerse participants in the shoes of the 'other. The use of virtual realty in education is a growing area of schloarship.
