Leon Litvack served as a Board Member & Chair of Finance & Capital Committee for the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
This arms-length Government body is the premier grant-awarding body for the Arts in Northern Ireland. Litvack chairs the committee which which exercises financial scrutiny and accountability over, and approves the budget for, the complete funding package for the organisation, drawn from the Exchequer (£10.7 million) and National Lottery Distribution Fund (£9.1 million); he oversaw major capital expenditure on arts venues, including the Belfast MAC, and operational expenditure for major arts organisations, including the Ulster Orchestra and the Belfast International Festival. He also participated in the moderation process for the Annual Funding Programme, which delivers grants to organisations in all artforms and practices for their core and programming costs.
As well as attending Board and Committee meetings, he played an active role in promoting the Council's funding programmes, including Music Touring, Arts & Older People, Young People and Wellbeing, Creative Apprenticeships & Internships; Intercultural Arts; and Visual Arts Development.
