Description

Leadership is shown by shaping career development guidance and support in HAPP, implementing Swan Action Plan and aiming for Silver Award upgrade under the transformed Athena Swan Framework (e.g. by producing Swan Action Plan reviews for QGI in 2023 and 2024), advancing University vision around Gender Equality and Student Experience, embedding EDI in HAPP through governance, effective use of existing structures and membership of committees (e.g. chairing SAT, co-organising an EDI committee, delivering presentations to the School Management Committee and School Board, designing sessions for Away Days, Induction and Training events, contributing to Academic Progression and Probation Committees).

Significant constructive and impactful contribution to leadership activities, which support the management of HAPP as evidenced by substantial initiatives.

Key initiatives include
a) creation of a Grant Application Workshop for ECRs,
b) creation of a report on Career Development and Reward for PSS;
c) more effective use of SAT through initiatives (e.g. separate meetings with students who are members of SAT);
d) co-organisation of HAPP Away Days (2023, 2024, 2025) and supplementary Action Plans. These Away Days included bespoke in-person Active Bystander training, a SWAN-led session which focused on the Staff Gender Culture Survey, a session I lead on Career Development and one on Student Experience;
e) presentation to School Board on the upcoming Silver Award Application.
f) Design of an Exit of Probation Survey and Action Plan
h) Creation of a Focus Group for Female Academics who have recently gone through the promotions process.

My report on PSS report was sent to Helen Hart and circulated among the P & C Learning and Development Team and was on the agenda for the Swan Champions Network meeting on 12 June 2024. The issues raised in the report have been progressed to ISAT.
