Belfast International Arts Festival

Description

Emerging from a course I teach in postconflict drama at QUB, I came across an unpublished play about the controversial 'death on a rock' incident, when three members of the I.R.A were shot dead by the S.A.S in Gibraltar. I contacted the author who sent me an unpublished copy of the script, which I provided to Brassneck Theatre Company who then performed a rehearsed reading of it to an audience of 500 people in the Felons Club, Belfast on the date of the anniversary. This staged reading was subsequently commissioned by Belfast's International Arts Festival and given a full production in October 2018. I chaired the post-show discussion to accompany this performance.
