BSAS; Council member 2001-2012 and Chair of Publications Committee. Served on council, programme committee and 2004-2006 as Chair of Publications. Within the latter role Scollan was instrumental in driving forward major changes in the Societies publication strategy with the creation, in conjunction with INRA and EAAP, of a new European Journal of Animal Bioscience (Animal). President of BSAS 2010/11.
