Description

This repeat delivery of Canvas VLE: An Introduction was delivered by Dr Matt Birch to support additional staff engagement during the rollout phase. The session targeted staff who were unable to attend earlier workshops or who required a second exposure to Canvas fundamentals.

Participants were guided through Canvas core functionality, with emphasis on module setup, content publishing, communication, and preparing modules for student access. The workshop encouraged staff to view Canvas as a pedagogical platform rather than a document repository.

The session supported QUB’s strategic commitment to transformative education and staff development, aligning with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure).

This workshop formed part of a highly successful Canvas VLE Rollout Programme in the School of Nursing and Midwifery and beyond in 2018–2019, which led to Dr Matt Birch receiving an Outstanding Leadership Award at the Queen’s University Staff Excellence Awards.
