Amanda is a Research Fellow with the interdisciplinary, cross-institutional GroundsWell Consortium. She contributes to GroundsWell’s interdisciplinary research on urban green and blue spaces and benefits for public health, which includes embedding a stronger focus on sustainability and climate action. For example, designing climate education workshops to be delivered with GroundsWell members. She is also researching intersections between climate action, peace building and conflict transformation with academic colleagues and partners like the Northern Ireland Executive Office, Good Relations Council, Belfast City Council, and Eastside Partnership.

The GroundsWell team of researchers, local communities, implementers and policymakers will create a virtuous cycle of research, data, policy, implementation and active citizenship. By working together, we will all better understand and evidence the role of UGBS (Urban Green and Blue Spaces) within wider social, economic, environmental, cultural and health systems. We will identify and implement actions to maximise health benefits from UGBS. Our democratisation of the research and decision-making process will be based on principles of co-design, co-implementation, co-evaluation and co-translation.
