Chloride ingress into alkali activated slag concretes

    Description

Viability of AAS concrete for chloride environments – In summary, data from AAS concrete studied shows a bleak picture. Ideally, concrete specified for chloride exposure should have low diffusivity combined with reasonably high pH and low corrosion rate which is not the case for most AAS concretes. The outcome may be different if a lower w/b is considered. In any case, the main parameters that should be studied for AAS are as listed in the full paper and this will help to specify performance criteria for such concretes.
