Description

This application-focused workshop represented the second stage of the staff development programme and was delivered by Dr Matt Birch, with Dr Jennifer McGaughey and Stuart Ogg. The session targeted academic staff who had attended the introductory workshop and were ready to begin using video in their teaching practice.

Participants engaged in hands-on activities, creating short pre-recorded video lectures using Mediasite and exploring workflows for recording, editing, publishing, and sharing content with students. The workshop also introduced approaches to video-based formative and summative feedback, highlighting efficiency gains and potential improvements in feedback clarity.

The session supported institutional goals around digital innovation and staff development and aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through effective use of digital teaching technologies.

This workshop formed part of a successful project introducing video-based learning and feedback in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, which contributed to the team receiving a Teaching Innovation Award.
