Description

Working with staff from Visit Belfast, in 2018 I managed to secure hosting the EAA’s 29th Annual Meeting in Queen’s University Belfast for Autumn 2023. This is a major event in the European archaeological calendar and involved 3333 delegates. Visit Belfast estimated that the conference had an economic impact of £3.4 million on Northern Ireland. I was the Chair of the Local Organising Committee.

Since the end of the 28th annual meeting, I worked tirelessly with the four members of the EAA Secretariat and two staff in Conference Partners International, to organise all aspects of the conference logistics. My role as Chair of the Scientific Committee meant that I also played a leading role in the creation of the conference logo, motto and shape of the academic programme.
