I was asked by the Council of Mathematical Sciences (CMS) to represent the Northern Ireland mathematics research community at the meetings of the Board of the Council. The Council is the highest hierarchical body representing mathematics research directly to the UK government, and is composed of representations from the London Mathematical Society, the Institute for Mathematics and Applications, the Royal Statistical Society, the Edinburgh Mathematical Society, and other high standing bodies. The role of the Council is to provide input to Government, leading to shaping of future policies, and to engage on high level with the mathematics communities in the country, overseeing the health and the directions of mathematics research and its applications.
