Description

Dr Viola Nyman and five midwife colleagues from the NU-Hospital Group, Trollhattan visited the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) & the clinical midwife-led unit partner sites at the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (HSCT) and at the South Eastern HSCT; from the 27th Feb – 2nd March 2018. The collaborative visit focused on knowledge transfer activities relating to midwife-led care and the development and implementation of the regional Guideline for admission to Midwife-led units in Northern Ireland & the Normal Labour and Birth Care pathway (GAIN, 2016). The guideline has been implemented across Northern Ireland and has been shared internationally. To enhance understanding and possible future implementation of the guideline and pathway in Sweden, funding was sought from School of Nursing and Midwifery QUB to have the guideline and pathway translated into Swedish prior to their visit. The visit began with a seminar based on the guideline and pathway facilitated by Dr Healy in QUB. The visit by Dr Nyman to QUB also enabled further development of the WG2 COST Action research work which culminated in a publication within BMC Systematic Reviews
