Dinner Dates: Stories Like Starting Points

Activity: Talk or presentation typesPublic lecture/debate/seminar

Description

The appeal of the line of poetry from Holly Pester’s Comic Timing which provides this year’s StAnza festival title lies in its ambiguity, and thereby its ability to encompass the widest range of approaches to narrative in poetry (including poets who in fact contest the grip it exerts upon meaning-making). This evening’s dinner-dates event will see the Festival Director attempting to get to the nub of the issue of narrative in poetry with three contrasting poets, Ian Duhig, Glyn Maxwell and Gail McConnell, and to pin down the real meaning of that enigmatic line of poetry once and for all!
