"Dipping into translationality"

Activity: Talk or presentation typesInvited talk

Description

An invited lecture for postgraduate students (online)

In this lecture, I presented my most recent work from the book Experiencing Translationality (Routledge 2023). Based on a study of ancient and medieval practices of translating church officials as well as sacred relics, I argued that new insights on what translation is and what it does (conceptualised as translationality) may be provided by focusing on material transfers of bodies, rather than metaphorical transfers of texts.
