DRAMA AND THE NORTHERN IRELAND PEACE PROCESS

Activity: Talk or presentation typesInvited talk

Description

How should artists respond when the society they work within collapses into violence? And what role have they when this climate of violence gives way to an uncertain peace? Using Northern Ireland as example, this lecture will trace the changing approach of the region’s dramatists from the explicitly conflict-related plays of the 1980s, to interactive theatre events where real participants in the violence put their stories onto the stage.
