Description

I organised for Professor Meric Gertler, the President of the University of Toronto to deliver the 2017 Eaton Lecture. He spoke to "The University and the City." Professor Gertler is an international expert on the economic dynamics of city-regions. He was joined by a panel of experts that included two other international academics with expertise on innovation and regional development - Professor Kevin Morgan (Cardiff University) and Professor Bjorn Asheim (Lund University) - as well as Suzanne Wylie (chief executive, Belfast City Council), Joanne Stuart (director of development, Catalyst) and Dr Linda Fox-Rogers (lecturer in Planning, QUB). The Vice Chancellor (Professor Patrick Johnson) introduced the event and hosted a dinner on behalf of the Chief Executives Club afterwards. The event was compered by William Crawley (journalist, BBC).
