The research seminar, chaired by Prof. Dagmar Schiek, highlighted the need for an interdisciplinary approach in exploring the tensions between the European and Monetary Union and the renewed EU social agenda in the light of recent initiatives such as the European Pillar of Social Rights and the Roadmap for deepening the EMU. It hosted four speakers from outside the UK: Professor Ulla Neergaard, University of Copenhagen, Professor Fabian Amtenbrink, University of Rotterdam, Dr Bart Vanhercke, OSE (Brussels) and Martinho Lucas Pires (PhD researcher, University of Lisboa).
