Description

Statement of Purpose

The Educational Technologists Forum is established as a collaborative platform for individuals within the Queen’s University community who are dedicated to advancing digital learning and technology integration in education. Comprising experts from diverse backgrounds, the group aims to (a) foster professional development, recognition, and progression, (b) facilitate networking opportunities, (c) equip members with competencies and confidence to take on knowledge generation, scholarship and advisory opportunities, and (d) contribute to the enhancement of digital education across the institution.

Objectives

The primary objectives and activities of the Educational Technologists Group will be guided by five pillars:

1. Identity and Reputation:

i) Identity: To cultivate a strong, recognisable identity for our network by defining and promoting the unique contributions of educational technologists within and outside the institution.

ii) Reputation: To promote the professional reputation of members through highlighting individual and group contributions to expertise and high standards in educational technology. Activities may include advocacy for the effective use of digital and non-digital tools, technologies, and techniques in education, promoting awareness of their benefits and advocating for the necessary resources and support to facilitate their integration into the university's academic programs and administrative processes.

2. Development and Progression: To facilitate continuous learning and skill enhancement among members through tailored workshops, training sessions, conferences, mentoring, and sharing of best practices in educational technology and digital pedagogy.

3. Innovation and Scholarship: To encourage innovation in educational technology by supporting scholarship and research initiatives, pilot projects, and the exploration of emerging technologies that have the potential to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement.

4. Collaboration/Networking and Belonging: To promote collaboration and knowledge exchange among members, fostering a supportive community where ideas, resources, and experiences can be shared.

5. Outreach and Social Good: To collaborate with other relevant groups, committees, and stakeholders within and external to the university to promote synergies and contribute to social good through community projects and partnerships.
