Description
EPSRC is holding a one-day virtual workshop to assess the health and future direction of Chemical Engineering as a discipline. The Engineering theme supports chemical engineering research and training through three research areas (Complex fluids and Rheology, Particle Technology and Process Systems (Components and Integration), however, we recognise that Chemical Engineering research is highly multidisciplinary, and not confined only to these three areas. We anticipate this event will be of greatest interest to all researchers who self-identify as chemical engineers, even if your research lies within another EPSRC Theme (e.g. Energy, Manufacturing, Physical Sciences), or another research council (e.g. Innovate, BBSRC). We are also keen for members of industry to apply so that we have a diverse range of participants. Goals are 1) to conduct a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis of chemical engineering to identify the current state of the discipline, 2) To capture current EPSRC and wider UKRI investments in the wider landscape, beyond those of the engineering theme, 3) To identify current community needs, 4) To consider the future direction of chemical engineering over the next 10 to 20 years.Period | 21 Apr 2021 |
