External Advisor to Paper Standard Setting Meeting - School of Medicine, Final MB Exam.

I was invited by the School of Medicine, Final MB Exam Team to participate as an External Advisor on the standard setting process for their final question selection on the above exams. It was an excellent opportunity to learn about their MSCAA collaborative MCQ bank is used and how the Team score each MCQ in terms to benchmark their standard. As External Advisor on the Team I gave my expert opinion on aspects of essential bioscience and pharmacology principles relevant to medical practice and commented and I advised on the QA review of the robustness and fairness of the MCQs.

This opportunity has provided me with a lot of insight on how we can continue to improve our robust use of MCQs across our School and how, through standard setting, we can demonstrate high calibre assessment using MCQs at all levels.
