DescriptionDr Tzagkarakis visited the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Queen's University Belfast to undertake a Short Term Scientific Mission as part of the COST Action IS1405 - Building Intrapartum Research Through Health - an interdisciplinary whole system approach to understanding and contextualising physiological labour and birth (BIRTH). The aim of the visit was to collate data relating to the multi-interdisciplinary research by Dr Maria Healy, Dr George Tzagkarakis and Dr Anastasia Topalidou to analysis bio-signals from cardiotocograph (CTG). The aim of the research was to correlate fetal heart rate (FHR) with Uterine contractions (UC) and fetal moved (FM) signals to assess fetal well being. An indepth analysis of 20 anonymous, retrospective antenatal CTGs recorded using the ultrasound transducer from between 34-42 weeks gestation was undertaken.
