Description

GHOST MINES—Sensing Pasts/Casting Futures is a research studio exploring the environmental and cultural legacies of post-mining landscapes in Germany’s Ore Mountains and Lusatia, where uranium and lignite extraction left lasting ecological damage. Through interdisciplinary methods—spanning environmental science, media theory, and sensory ethnography—participants will investigate how these "ghost mines" embody histories of exploitation and transformation, offering insight into speculative, sustainable futures. The program includes lectures, workshops, and field trips, culminating in a collective online publication.
