Description

Organised and delivered the first Green Dot Bystander Intervention Workshop within the School of EEECS (28 November 2025). This inaugural session introduced staff and students to key concepts around unwanted experiences, gender‑based violence, and harassment, and equipped participants with practical active‑bystander strategies using the 3 D’s model (Direct, Distract, Delegate). The workshop provided signposting to support services, offered real‑world scenario practice, and awarded participants official Green Dot Ally recognition as part of their professional development.

Students and staff at EEECS, Queen's University Belfast recently participated in the first session of Green Dot QUB, an evidence-based bystander intervention program designed with the University of Ulster to prevent sexual violence, harassment, and domestic abuse within the university communityLed by Dr Esha Barlaskar and Dr Fiona North, the first session provided an introduction to this important program, exploring how the term "bystander" came about and what bystander intervention means: recognising negative situations and responding in ways that can stop or de-escalate harmful behaviour.
