Hope, Lost and Found: kidney disease and the life-affirming power of art

Activity: Participating in or organising an event typesParticipation in Festival/Exhibition

Description

The event was managed by members of the Renal Arts Group (RAG), in order to raise the profile of chronic kidney disease with the public and increase kidney donation rates. This event built upon previous events at the Black Box and Ulster Museum in Belfast where we presented a variety of activities to general public to share experiences of kidney disease and enhance public knowledge.
Activities included an exhibition of 'Human Beings Being Human'; the screening of the play 'Gift of Donation' by service user and RAG member Mr William Johnston. The exhibition involved an invitation to help create an art installation to raise awareness of kidney disease. The aim was to create an event that reflects contributions from wider community in support of service users who are coping with kidney disease in a celebration of life through the medium of artistic expression.
