Description
As we approach the winter break, join us on Friday 13 December at 10am to hear inspirational examples of the integration of Responsible Management Education (RME) within the business school curriculum, as well as receive updates on the various opportunities for engagement within PRME, including faculty and student competitions.Prof. Colm McLaughin of UCD College of Business will discuss a new module which ran for the first time in Spring 2024. ‘Climate Change and Business Sustainability’ is based on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), with lectures focusing on mitigation, adaptation and climate finance. Students work in groups and are allocated a country. The module culminates in a two-day role play where they negotiate from the interests of their allocated country to reach a COP agreement on climate change. The experiential module provides students with insights into the realpolitik of addressing climate change.
Dr. Fabiola Schneider, also of UCD College of Business, will outline a new module which was added to the curriculum both at undergrad and postgrad levels. 'Sustainability Reporting & Analysis' sits within the Accountancy subject area but is open to a broad range of business students. Fabiola will highlight the relevance of this topic for future business graduates and share how she makes the content accessible to students. The presentation will include a discussion on striking a balance between highlighting the challenges we currently face with regards to sustainability while at the same time conveying optimism and presenting solutions.
