Description
Invitation from the President of the Board of Directors of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), the Portuguese national public funding Agency for R&D, as Panel Member in the first edition of the FCT-Tenure Call. This new FCT funding instrument aims to co-fund the hiring of PhD researchers for permanent positions at institutions of the National Science and Technology System.In its first edition, the program will co-fund up to 1000 (one thousand) PhD researchers, having a broad impact on the Portuguese higher education and research ecosystem.
This program is open to Portuguese universities and research institutions and was designed to help fixing researchers by providing them with permanent positions. This program will play a central role in the professional stabilization of researchers and their lines of research. It will also create a more attractive and sustainable career horizon for early career researchers.
As an evaluator, my task was to assess the scientific profile of approximately of 28 of job descriptions that are going to be opened and their potential impact on the Hiring Institution.
The evaluation process of the FCT-Tenure Call led by FCT encompassed all scientific domains, and its results were decisive in the distribution of EUR 180 million in funds amongst universities and research institutions.
