Invited lecture at University of Virginia: 'Dealing with Difficult Pasts: public history in deeply divided societies'

Activity: Talk or presentation typesInvited talk

Description

I was invited to deliver a public lecture organised by the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. Using Northern Ireland and Charlottesville, Virginia, as case studies, this talk explored the role that representations and uses of the past can play in societies where deeply divided pasts continue to resonate. It also looked at the role of cultural museums in confronting and dealing with these divisions.
