Invited talk: Transition and wellbeing: Lessons from research, Northern Ireland

Activity: Talk or presentation typesPublic lecture/debate/seminar

This invitation from the Southern Education and Library Board was to talk at their Cross-Phase Sharing of Good Practice Conference(s) about the research the Centre for Effective Education (CEE) is conducting in relation to pupil wellbeing. This conference brought together teachers and headteachers from both primary and post primary schools to share good practice and discuss existing evidence with the aim of improving and promoting effective transition between KS2 and KS3 and with a particular focus on literacy and numeracy attainment. My talk aimed to highlight the relevant research that is being undertaken in the Centre for Effective Education (and elsewhere) with respect to the wellbeing of children who are transitioning from primary to post-primary school. I spoke at four events which were attended by over 200 teachers.
