Panel discussion, The James Fintan Lalor Autumn SchoolOn Friday 30 September and Saturday 1 October 2016 the fourth annual James Fintan Lalor Autumn School, entitled ‘1916: Looking back, looking forward, will take place in Portlaoise, Co. Laois. This is a weekend of drama, music, debates and political discussion inspired by the writings of James Fintan Lalor. As the programme of commemoration for the 1916 Centenary draws to a close, this year’s school will reflect on the year’s activities and consider what the future will bring. This will incorporate a wide range of debates, lectures, exhibitions and performances, including a History Ireland ‘Hedge School’ debate. Participants include: Diarmaid Ferriter (UCD), Fearghal McGarry (QUB), Conor Brady, Caitriona Crowe (NAI) Eve Morrison, Tommy Graham (History Ireland) Robert Ballagh, Conor Mc Namara (NUI Galway), Mary McAuliffe (UCD), Susan McKay, Brendon Deacy and Lorraine Comer (NMI). All events will be held at the Dunamaise Arts Centre in Portlaoise, and full details and booking information are now online.
