Description

I hosted at Queens and acted as external supervisor the PhD student Jennifer D'Anna from University of Palermo for a period of 9 months. During her time in Queens the PhD student carried out an experimental and numerical research project on strengthening techniques for rectangular masonry columns under axial load.
Dr D'Anna had her viva in May 2019. This international collaboration produced so far 5 journal papers and 3 conference papers.
The project focused on the design and testing of clay brick masonry prisms confined with FRCM wraps. The experimental testing is aimed at studying the effective stress on the external wrap at failure and on the axial capacity of the confined masonry specimens.
