Activity: Consultancy typesKTP & Consultancy in kind

This two year Knowledge Transfer Partnership - to the value of £135,449 - involved a strategic collaboration between QUB reseachers and Ove Arup Planning Consultants. The project (2016-18) was dedicated to generating an interact app to enable the effective identification of city resilience challenges. The success of the project in Belfast - through a piloting of the app with the City Council - is intended to be rolled out in other cities around the UK and internationally where Ove Arup are active. Instructively, this project has involved significant knowledge transfer from the university to the company in order to improve its compeitiveness in the global market place. Moreover, the findings from this project have fed into research-led teaching within the Planning discipline. Winning Knowledge Transfer Partnership research funding draws attention to the fact that the Planning School at Queen’s University Belfast is first within the discipline in the UK over the past half century to have been successful in attracting an award from this source. The outputs from the project were independently evaluated as “outstanding” and the reporting methodology, completed in 2019, is being used as an exemplar of good practice by Innovate UK.
