Description
As an experienced anatomist and academic leader, I have played a key role in steering innovation in anatomy education. My work has consistently focused on enhancing the student learning experience, embedding clinical relevance, and adopting modern technologies in response to changing pedagogical and institutional needs.I am an active member of the QUB Anatomy Teaching Working Group, where I contribute to strategic decision-making regarding anatomy curriculum delivery, teaching tools, and digital resources. My involvement spans. I contributed to decision-making on acquiring plastic models, ultrasound handsets and digital software
Inter-Institutional Knowledge Exchange: Undertook a visit to Ulster University (Feb 2024) to learn from their deployment of Anatomage tables and ultrasound equipment in anatomy teaching.
COVID-19 Response and Long-Term Digital Transition: I led the transition to alternative digital teaching methods when dissection was unavailable during the pandemic. These adaptations have since evolved into long-term enhancements, shaping blended and hybrid anatomy delivery models.
Innovative and Inclusive Pedagogies: Advocating for virtual dissection software as an accessible alternative to cadaveric dissection, particularly for widening participation and international contexts, supporting the team selecting preferred digital platforms, combining pedagogical rigour with technological efficiency.
I have a proven track record in establishing and developing undergraduate and postgraduate anatomy programmes, with an emphasis on clinical applicability and student-centred learning. My teaching excellence is evidenced by multiple student nominations, shortlistingand award for QUB Teaching Excellence Awards, underscoring my commitment to clarity, innovation, and mentorship.
I am known for my interactive and inclusive teaching approach, incorporating: Case-based learning, ultrasound-enhanced anatomy and problem-solving sessions. I publish on medical education strategies, including innovative teaching methods, and implementation of technology in anatomy education.
