Description
In an era where truth is no longer a shared foundation but a contested terrain, this talk explores how media, both traditional and digital, navigate, perpetuate, and sometimes resist the currents of the post-truth condition. It interrogates how emotion triumphs over evidence, how personal belief trumps verifiable fact, and how algorithms privilege engagement over accuracy. Drawing on critical theory and case studies from India, the talk unpacks the rise of disinformation, the weaponisation of media narratives, the decline of trust in journalism and audience activism.
This talk was organised for the general public by an Indian diasporic organisation - Kairali UK - Belfast
