Northern Ireland Practice Learning Collaborative (NIPLC)
To ensure a consistent and regional approach to the on-going implementation and evaluation of the NMC Education Standards (2018, 2023) and the Post Registration Standards (YEAR?) through collaborative working arrangements between Education and Practice Placement Providers.
AIMS:
To ensure the NMC Education Standards (2018, 2023) are upheld through the approved Nursing and Midwifery curricula, both pre-registration and post registration.
To map and respond to challenges and opportunities related to four main programmes of work:
Digital literacy and health within the practice learning environment
Professional practice and skill development
Student supervision and assessment
PA/PS education and support
The NIPLC will appoint time-limited, specific task and finish groups within the programmes of work. This will include arranging regional events where best practice may be shared. Each programme group will set up a clear governance structure that includes purposeful membership, terms of reference and reporting quarterly to the main NIPLC.
OBJECTIVES:
To hold to account organisations to ensure Practice Learning Environment Educational Audits (PLEEA) are completed, reflect and optimise current staffing levels
To provide a forum to highlight, discuss and seek solutions to issues and concerns related to regional practice placement provision and/or capacity for N. Ireland Student Nurses/Midwives
To quality assure, review and update resources as required
To ensure that there is ongoing and effective communication across between stakeholders remains integral to the work of NIPLC
To share learning related to improving the quality, safety and effectiveness of students’ practice-based learning experience.
To provide oversight and support with the use of Northern Ireland Practice Assessment Document (e-NIPAD) and Midwifery On-going Record of Achievement (e-MORA)

All representatives will have responsibility for the implementation of the NMC Education Standards (2018, 2023) and approved curricula within their respective organisations across the region.
