Posting Workers and Equalities - Does the Proposed Reform Directive Strike the Right Balance?

  • Dagmar Schiek (Invited speaker)

Activity: Talk or presentation typesInvited or keynote talk at national or international conference

Description

This initial contribution to a round table on the posting directive argues that posting of workers touches on equalities in different dimensions. Thus, it is not sufficient to promote equality of pay for the same work at the same place (and the proposed reform directive does not achieve this stated aim, if it would be adopted as per draft). The true challenge is to balance different equalities (between employers, between local workers and posted workers, between workers posted and workers moving temporarily under other headings, between Member States where the posted workers continue to pay taxes and social security contributions, and those Member States where they work...)
