To commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War 1, Craigavon Borough Council is hosting a major WW1 exhibition comprising of artefacts from the ‘War Years Remembered’ collection. Taking place in Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre from Monday 6th October to Friday 10th October, the exhibition will bring history alive for all generations, giving both young and old a greater understanding of life during the Great War, both on the battle field and on the home front. Visitors can delve into this key period in history with a vast showcase of WW1 memorabilia including a War Horse exhibit, a range of different regimental uniforms, equipment, paperwork, headdress and personal items to name but a few. In addition, there will also be two lectures which will be held in the surroundings of this exhibition in Craigavon Civic & Conference Centre. On Monday 6th October at 7.30pm, Doctor Fearghal McGarry will talk about ‘The Political impact of the Great War on Ireland, while historian Bryan Rutledge will take to the floor on Thursday 9th October at 7.30pm to discuss ‘The War photographers & the photography of WW1’. Timings for the exhibition are as follows: Monday 6th October: 10am-5pm Tuesday 7th October: 10am – 5pm & 7pm – 9pm Wednesday 8th October: 10am – 5pm & 7pm – 9pm Thursday 9th October: 10am-5pm Friday 10th October: 10am – 5pm & 7pm – 9pm Admission to both the exhibition & lectures is Free.
