Conference: Exploring Aspects of the 1916 Rising Friday 29 April, 9.30am-4.30pm 2016 sees the centenary of the 1916 Rising. This special one day conference explores a number of aspects of the Rising. We have five leading academics speaking on a host of topics associated with the Rising. Eugene McNulty will be speaking about northern cultural nationalism. Margaret Ward will be looking at Hanna Sheehy Skeffington and Countess Markievicz. Fearghal McGarry will be talking about the Rising in Ulster. Emmet O'Connor will be looking at Larkin, labour and republicanism and Michael Pierse will be reflecting on literature, 1916 and the crisis of Empire.
