Description

I am an active member of the QUB Assessment Handbook Task and Finish Group. This role initially involved participating in monthly writing workshops with Academic Staff from across the University, under the guidance of the Centre for Educational Development. One of the outcomes from the project is an assessment handbook, created by CED in collaboration with the Students’ Union and academic partners, and to be used as a support resource. The Handbook of Assessment Guidance and Support provides support for UG degrees and all disciplines at this level was launched in August 2020. It contained advice on both formative and summative assessments and included the detail necessary for staff to implement change. It was compliant with our Study Regulations and therefore encouraged consistent practice across the University and the Handbook was available to support both students and staff. It will also included some of my own personal examples of good practice and others from across the University to support newly appointed staff to develop effective assessment strategies. In this Task and Finish Working Group we meet annually to update the best practice in the Handbook.
