I am the Staff Forum representative on the Workload Allocation Working Group. The working group was established to review the university's approach to workload allocation within schools by providing a framework to support workload allocation in a fair and consistent way. The group's objectives include:
1. Reviewing the workload allocation practices currently in place within Schools.
2. Defining the purpose of workload allocation for Queen’s, for example, to gain a better understanding and respect for individual contributions in School/Faculty, ensure manageable workloads, assist planning at School/Faculty level enabling them to best utilise staff to support the achievement of priorities etc.
3. Agreing an approach to workload allocation at Queen’s, which is fair and transparent to include for example, activities that are in/out of scope, core principles etc.
The University Executive Board has accepted the recommendations made by the working group.
