Description

The overall objective of the Regional Dementia Services Project Board will be to ensure that people living with Dementia across Northern Ireland are supported to lead the best life possible. This includes ensuring that they will have access to safe, high quality and person-centred assessment and care which focused on their individual needs and wishes and underpinned by their right to access equitable healthcare provision.
The Regional Dementia Project Board will provide a strategic forum to consider the key short term and long terms priorities relating to Dementia Care in Northern Ireland. Through this work we hope to understand our dementia services and referral pathways, identify where there are gaps, identify the best way to support positive changes and create a plan to develop our services.

PURPOSE
• To provide a formal mechanism for all key stakeholders to work together as partners, to build shared values and to seek to develop joint approach in relation to Dementia care in Northern Ireland
• To provide a format for key stakeholders to discuss current issues pertaining to Dementia care.
• To support the delivery of existing dementia services
• To consider future service delivery models associated with new disease modifying therapies
• To improve efficiency in systems and processes across the region, including decreasing waiting times for dementia assessment and diagnosis
• To consider regional approaches to training,
• To improve the experience of diagnosis for people with dementia and their relatives/carers
• To consider our regional strategy
• To formulate a clear regional vision of services into the future.
