Description

Organisation of an international Conference, with the Institute for Collaborative Research in the Humanities at Queen’s. The subject of this two-day conference is the exchange processes between French and International cultures at play in and around the work of Crime Fiction author Frédéric Dard. This reflects an important aspect of my research and the conference is an opportunity to discuss it widely with international scholars. It is an opportunity to reassess the importance of the international dimension in this oeuvre and to map the dense intertextual network of international cultural influences in which it is inscribed, as well as the dialogue with international cultural industries it exemplifies. This proposes a radical departure from established perceptions of this sector of French Cultural Production and a challenge to widespread perceptions of their untranslatability. Special attention paid to processes of intermedia transpositions and multimedia re-creations (Plays, Film and TV Adaptations, Novelisation, Serialisation in the press, Photonovels, Comics), international distribution, international collaborations will make an important contribution to the global study of creative industries .
