DescriptionSuccessful Grant Applications for seven seminar series related to pedagogy/scholarly for the development of teaching and learning. Track record of initiating and securing a number of Departmental Seminar Grants and Travel Grants related to pedagogy with funders from Anatomical Society, the Research Enterprise and Physiological Society. I have motivated junior staff to follow my footsteps and do similar activities in the following years.
I have invited prestigious guest speakers and organised seminars for staff and MSc Students. These seminars offered chances for staff in the wider School to debate issues related to the field, to share experience and exchange perspectives (2015-2020)
a) Successful Grant applications for Seminar Series related to pedagogy/scholarly activity:
1) From the Anatomical Society: - Prof Gabrielle Finn, Director of Health Professions Education UnitHull York Medical School delivered a talk “Moving away from norm driven implementation", 29th Nov 2019/20
- Dr. Will Brackenbury, University of York “Targeting Breast Cancer Metastasis with Anti-epileptic Drugs”, 10th April 2018
- Dr. Debra Patten, Chair of Anatomy, University of New Castle “Ultrasound in the undergraduate medical curriculum in the UK: where are we at and where are we going next? “ 20th March 2018
- Prof. Mtui, Head of Anatomy division, Weill Cornell University, New York, “The first Home Grown Functional Neuroanatomy Resource Innovation for IPads”, 14th March 2018. Prof Mtui, an international lead in Neuroanatomy and his textbook in Neuroanatomy had been extensively used by QUB staff and students. That was following a successful Grant application from BOTH the Anatomical Society and the School Scholarship Committee Worth £1800. He also gave a series of Lecturer to our MSc Students in this week.The impact of Prof Mtui’s visit:a) A colleague had created a neuroanatomy teaching model with the help of his book B) Our MSc students benefitted a lot from sis exoceptional Teaching and greatly appreciated that QUB had invited a great international professor to contribute to their teaching and share his vast educational experience.

Prof Claire Smith: Head of Anatomy at Brighton and Sussex Medical School “Creating Meaning in Teaching and the use of 3D printing”, 16th Feb 2017
B) Success in obtaining funding for development of gender equality in educational leadership positions 2016/17. I was awarded £16,077 by the Global Challenge Research fund from the Department for Economy (DfE) during 2016/17 for a high impact project “Reducing gender inequality in educational leadership position in Azerbaijan to advance socio-economic development in the country. This pilot study explored female leaders’ career paths and work experiences, encountering obstacles and ways of overcoming these, as well as experiences of gender discrimination in secondary schools of Azerbaijan. Dissemination of findings included an open seminar at the International Press Centre, Baku. Representative from Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan thanked QUB and the researchers for conducting this project. Local media representatives participated in the event - one of the main TV channels of Azerbaijan (Khazar TV) and 7 news agencies and newspapers.
C) Travel Grant: Success in obtaining funding for development of teaching and learning:• From the Prizes and Awards Committee of the Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland, The Symington Bequest Award, 20th Sept 2018, 2018/19 (£500), 15th Nov 2018, 2018/19 (£200) and 2019/2020 (£300). I Used these grants to present in international conferences and represent QUB, helping to increase my professional and QUB's international profile/reputation
