The seminar, organised by Laurie Ellinghausen, considered how imaginative texts use other social categories to complicate conventional ideologies of class. My paper, ‘“Pictures of Good Cittizens”: Class, Gender, and the Art of the Long Gallery in Shakespeare and City Comedy’, considered the intersubjectivity of identity, and the intersection between class and gender, in the theatre and the gallery. The seminar structure provided valuable peer-review feedback on current research contributing towards my thesis.
