Symposium on Interagency in Technologically Mediated Performance, Bournemouth University

Activity: Participating in or organising an event typesParticipation in conference

Description

Despite a growing community of people creating digital musical instruments and a growing associated academic field, there has been little recognition within these communities of the associated approaches to Philosophy of Technology that examine human-technology interactions from a variety of social, political and philosophical perspectives. This symposium brings together researchers from the fields of instrument design, improvisation, contemporary philosophy, human-computer interaction, and creative digital industries to discuss the current state of engagement between these disciplines, build a foundation of understanding from an analysis of 'best practices’ (existing or imagined) and set-out a roadmap for future collaborative research in these areas.
