Description

As a member of the Technology, Pedagogy and Education Association (TPEA), I am part of a dynamic UK-registered charity dedicated to advancing education through innovative use of digital technologies. The association, which evolved from the Association for Information Technology in Teacher Education (ITTE) and gained charitable status in 2020, plays a crucial role in supporting educational technology research and practice across various educational contexts.

My membership contributes to the organisation's core mission of promoting research and effective practice in educational technologies, with a broad focus on pedagogical applications across curriculum areas. The TPEA supports educators and researchers by providing a collaborative platform that explores digital capabilities, computing education, and the integration of technology in teaching and learning.

Through the association, I engage with a vibrant community of educators and researchers who are committed to advancing understanding of technology in education. The TPEA facilitates this through multiple channels, including its internationally recognised peer-reviewed journal Technology Pedagogy and Education, published in collaboration with Taylor Francis, as well as conferences, blogs, and forums that disseminate cutting-edge research and practice.

The association's collaborative approach is evident in its partnerships with key educational organisations such as the Council for Subject Association, MESH, the Chartered College of Teachers, Naace, and Computing at School. By supporting both large and small-scale research projects, TPEA advocates for practice-based research as a method of professional development, ensuring that educators have access to innovative approaches and insights in educational technology.

My involvement supports the organisation's key areas of focus, including:

1. Pedagogical application of digital technologies across all curriculum areas
2. Development of computing and digital capabilities
3. Effective use of digital technology in initial teacher education and continuing professional development
4. Supporting research and knowledge exchange in educational technology
